Will CBD show up on a DOT drug test? Truck drivers are federally regulated by the DOT to undergo regular drug testing. Drivers are subject to several types of drug and alcohol screenings. Drug test samples are tested for marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines and methamphetamines, opioids and phencyclidine. Marijuana is the only one on this list that isn’t illegal in all states. Some states may allow its use. It is, however, illegal on the federal level. Because drivers are federally regulated, they can’t maintain their CDL and use marijuana. Therefore, drivers also shouldn't use CBD. It can show up looking like a positive result for marijuana. If drivers fail a drug test, their CDL is no longer valid and they have to go through a SAP program.
